The next morning, when Holly regained consciousness in the ICU, she confronted Dr. Greyson with these impossible observations, accurately recounting every detail of his private conversation with Susan and specifically mentioning the hidden stain on his tie. Dr. Greyson, the sole witness who could verify these claims, was stunned as he knew no one else had seen the stain he had carefully hidden. This veridical observation of specific, concealed details while Holly was documented as unconscious in a different room became the catalyst for Dr. Greyson's fifty-year career researching near-death experiences.
