Dr. Rajiv Parti, a chief anesthesiologist suffering from cancer and pain medication addiction, underwent emergency surgery at UCLA Medical Center on December 26, 2010, for a severe infection. Under deep general anesthesia, he experienced a profound NDE that began with an out-of-body perspective where he watched the surgeon operating and heard the anesthesiologist tell a crude joke about the smell after his intestines were opened. His consciousness then traveled instantaneously to New Delhi, India, where he observed his mother wearing a green sari and sweater and his sister in blue jeans and a red sweater in their evening lounge. Subsequently, two demonic creatures dragged him toward a fiery realm he recognized as Naraka (hell), where he heard wailing souls and was told "You have lived a very loveless life." After praying for a second chance, archangels Michael and Raphael rescued him and guided him to a beautiful meadow and ultimately to a Being of Light described as "one thousand suns." In this divine presence, he underwent a painful but transformative life review and received the choice to return to heal his soul. The Being identified itself as "the Light of all souls." Later, in a vision following a friend's death, the Being revealed himself as Jesus. Dr. Parti verified his observations by confronting the anesthesiologist about the joke (who blushed in confirmation) and calling his family in India to confirm their exact clothing and activities. This experience transformed him from a materialistic skeptic into a spiritual believer who left his lucrative medical career to share his story.
