Fleur, age 27, experienced an NDE during surgery for repair of extensive uterine lacerations immediately post-partum. She suddenly became aware of being sucked up through total darkness at incredible speed, as if through a giant vacuum cleaner hose. The darkness was punctuated by colored lights as she was pulled toward a pinpoint of light at the center. Though not exactly fearful, she felt no control over the situation and desperately tried to stop, backpedal, or turn around to no avail. She was determined not to stay and was quite terrified as the light grew larger and exploded around her. She found herself surrounded by beings who acknowledged her presence and seemed amused at her cranky demands to be returned, saying "Put me back, damn it, put me back!" Despite her initial resistance, the beings totally accepted her and didn't mind her demanding attitude. Gradually her agitation smoothed and she felt peaceful and calm. She began accepting the experience and engaged in a question-and-answer session with the beings, where instead of verbal replies, they would show her the answers to her questions. This initially distressing experience transformed into one of acceptance and learning through visual communication with accepting, patient beings.
