Kevin Wells, nephew of murdered Msgr. Thomas Wells, experienced a catastrophic brain aneurysm after asking God for "violence" to draw closer to the Sacred Heart. The hemorrhage filled his skull with blood causing excruciating pressure for a week. Multiple shunt attempts failed, and deep brain surgery to reach the arteriovenous malformation was unsuccessful. Doctors expected him to die within days.
Hospital chaplain Fr. Bill detected demonic oppression in Kevin's room. He equipped Kevin's wife Krista with a consecrated Host in a pyx to hold over her husband while praying for St. Michael's intercession. During an MRI, Kevin experienced choking on vomit while unable to move or call for help, understanding Christ's silent suffering on the Cross surrounded by angels who would have saved Him if asked. Fr. Jim Stack ("Stackman"), Msgr. Wells's best friend, arrived to give Last Rites. He had recently started a healing ministry after being commanded by the Holy Spirit on Tepeyac Hill. When Fr. Stack asked the comatose Kevin what saint he wanted for intercession, Kevin unexpectedly responded "Bring my uncle down. I need Tommy now" - his first words since failed surgery, which he doesn't remember saying. As Fr. Stack called on Msgr. Wells and Maryland saints, witnesses saw "benevolent fire" fill the room with lights everywhere. Fr. Stack felt the whole heavenly court surround the bed with overwhelming warmth. His assistant Mary Pat Donoghue experienced powerful pleasant pulsing through her body. Kevin felt sustained warmth through chest and abdomen. Two friends later reported Kevin raised his arm pointing to the corner saying "Look, it's the Lady of Guadalupe." The next angiogram showed the AVM had completely vanished. All trapped blood and fluids disappeared. The healing was medically inexplicable.
