Brian Sackett was three and a half years old when he fell from a moving car traveling at 60 mph on a Wisconsin highway. The family's Nash Rambler had front-opening back doors, and while playing with his brother in the backseat, Brian accidentally hit the door handle. The door flew open and he was sucked out by the wind, landing on his head on the gravel shoulder.
A trucker driving behind witnessed the accident, seeing Brian fly out and land head-first. The trucker stopped and was holding the unconscious, bleeding child when the parents returned. Brian remained unconscious during the 30-mile drive to the nearest town for medical help, where he received ten stitches for his scalp wound. Decades later, through hypnotic regression therapy at age 40, Brian recovered memories of the incident. He recalled experiencing a very bright light upon regaining consciousness - both an external light from the nurse in white and a white porcelain bowl, and an internal spiritual light. Within this spiritual light, he sensed the presence of a wise being. The experience left him with lasting trauma, both physical (feeling like breathing through cut glass) and emotional (feeling unloved when his mother didn't comfort him during recovery). The NDE profoundly impacted Brian's life, leading to a lifelong yearning to understand what happened spiritually. It took years of therapy to work through the belief that neither his mother nor God loved him, stemming from the lack of comfort during his recovery. He eventually became a clinical psychologist specializing in trauma, spiritual emergence, and transpersonal psychology.
