Dr. Richard Eby, an accomplished physician, experienced death beyond clinical parameters when he fell off a balcony and split his head open. His bloody skull was exposed with the scalp torn down over each ear. His body was already grey-white and blood had quit flowing. His wife checked for pulse and breath, finding neither - he was completely dead. During this time of death, he experienced being taken to paradise by Jesus in the twinkling of an eye.
He was instinctively aware that the Lord of Lords was everywhere about this place. His gaze was riveted on an exquisite valley with forests of symmetrical trees, not a brown spot or dead leaf anywhere, and stately grasses. He discovered there was no time lag between thought and act in this realm. Beautiful, melodious, angelic background music filled the atmosphere. When he bent to smell the flowers, he encountered perfume so exotic it defied description. He decided to find his wife to share this unbelievable peace and joy, naturally assuming she must have died also since marriage had made them one. Moving down the path effortlessly, weightless and confident, he heard his wife's distant voice calling "Richard, Richard." As her voice grew louder, the valley grew dimmer and the light went out. He was back on earth where prayers had been answered for his return. His skull had been split apart enough to shift his eye sockets. At noon the surgeon appeared saying, "Don't get false hopes, Doc! There is no way to avoid being a vegetable. Your brain tissue yesterday was jelly where we saw it exposed. You had no blood left, so we couldn't transfuse you. I don't know why you're still here. It beats me." But Jesus had told him he would live, and he miraculously recovered. He went on sharing his testimony and serving God until he went home to be with the Lord in the 1990s. Later he was also given a vision of hell with terrifying isolation.
