Ron Reagan, formerly an atheist who had lived a troubled life and kept dangerous company, experienced a dramatic near-death encounter that transformed him completely. During a violent altercation in a store, another man slashed his arm open with a broken bottle, causing him to bleed profusely. As paramedics rushed him to the hospital in an ambulance, he began to leave his body and suddenly the ambulance appeared to explode with light as he entered a supernatural realm.
He found himself traveling through a dark tunnel filled with smoke and darkness. Emerging from the tunnel, he began hearing the voices of a multitude of people screaming, groaning, and crying in agony. Looking down, he saw what appeared to be a volcanic opening filled with fire and smoke. He witnessed people burning but not being consumed, experiencing endless torment. Most terrifying was that he began recognizing many of the people in the flames - he could see their features clearly, their frustration and pain evident on their faces. Several of the tormented souls began calling his name, warning him "Ronnie, don't come to this place. If you come here, there's no escape. There's no way out." He recognized one who had been shot in a robbery attempt and bled to death, and others who had died from drug overdoses. The smell was overwhelmingly foul, like sulfur and electric welding, a terrible stench. He was struck most powerfully by the complete loneliness and hopelessness - there was absolutely no hope of escape. Having experienced many terrible things in his life and witnessed horrible sights, he stated this experience literally scared him to death. Shortly after this experience, he accepted the Lord as his Savior and has served as a pastor of a church for many years.
