Lori, in her mid-fifties and working as a marketing supervisor, began experiencing grand mal seizures. Initially misdiagnosed with paranoia by a neurologist who called in a psychiatrist, she signed out against medical advice. She went home to fast, pray, and seek God's guidance. Three days later, her general practitioner referred her to a prominent Atlanta neurosurgeon. She immediately felt a childlike peace that this was God's will. A workup revealed a large right temporal lobe meningioma requiring seven hours of surgery.
One year before these events, while perfectly healthy, Lori had received a premonition. She was told to "Get your house in order or you will surely die." She and her husband prayed about it but forgot until everything happened. Days before surgery, while on a gurney entering the emergency room, she saw two mighty angels standing at the end of the gurney between it and the doors. They were almost ceiling height, men of light with visible arms, legs, and heads, too blinding to look at directly like sunlight. She told her concerned husband not to be afraid because of the angels' presence. During her cardiac arrest in surgery, she went down a dark corridor like wind, being ushered rather than walking. At the end was a bright light, brighter than any sunlight or star, permeating everything. Her spirit knew it was heaven, glory, paradise, God, everything - life, joy, and peace to the fullest. A barrier prevented her from pushing through though she could see through it. She knew if she stepped over, she could stay in the light forever. Two mighty angels stood in the light holding up their hands, stopping her. Their hands related to the barrier. Without words, there was understanding, and her spirit had to turn around and be ushered back down the dark corridor. She was sad to return but survived. Years earlier during fasting and prayer, she had an out-of-body experience where someone took her through her bedroom window over Chicago's skyline to Lake Michigan's edge, where she saw a terrible pit with spirits crying out hopelessly.
