Cheryl, blind from birth, has had multiple out-of-body experiences. During one summer visit to her parents' house while lying on her back, she felt a tumbling sensation and found herself about 10-12 feet in the air looking down at her body. She could see herself dressed in jeans, t-shirt, no socks, with a watch on her left arm and her long hair. She described it as "knowing" rather than strictly seeing. The experience was brief - one moment above her body, the next at her girlfriend's house. In another significant OBE, she found herself at her friend Irene's house where she witnessed Pat (another respondent in this study) sick in the bathroom, throwing up in front of the toilet on her knees with her left hand holding her hair back. She accurately described the bathroom layout: bathtub to right of toilet, hamper in corner, toilet paper holder, towel on rack by sink. She was viewing from the doorway facing Pat's back. The next day she called Pat who confirmed she had been sick at Irene's exactly as Cheryl described, causing Pat embarrassment. Cheryl physically felt awful after this experience.
