Nancy entered a California hospital in September 1991 for a routine biopsy that went catastrophically wrong. During surgery, her superior vena cava was accidentally cut and then sewn closed, causing her to lose blood flow to her head and become blind. While being rushed on a gurney to an MRI, already blind and with an ambu bag forcing her to breathe, she stepped out of her body when the gurney hit the elevator. From beside the elevator, she clearly saw the medical team of 6 people in panic, the IV, the black ambu bag covering her face, and most remarkably, she saw her son's father and her lover standing 15-20 feet down the hall just watching in shock. She wondered why they weren't coming closer. She then experienced a bright, focused laser-like white light and began moving toward it before deciding to return. Both men she saw in the hallway later independently confirmed they were standing exactly where she saw them, unable to move closer in their shock. Medical records confirm the surgical accident and emergency treatment. Nancy remained permanently blind from this incident. This case has the strongest corroboration in the study, with two independent witnesses confirming her impossible observations.
