Marsha, born premature with ROP leaving her with very limited vision in one eye, experienced pregnancy complications on January 16, 1986. At home, she lost consciousness for over 30 minutes with her fiancé unable to detect a pulse. She felt herself sinking down then going up through a black tunnel, pushed like by a vacuum cleaner. She saw the tunnel was round and narrow, with other people in their own tunnels. As she progressed, she experienced increasing peace, heard unique bells and music, and saw a tiny white light that grew brighter and larger, filling the tunnel. The light was golden-white, shimmering, warm, and she became part of it. She encountered angels with translucent bodies and was told she couldn't stay. She saw many people including her deceased grandmother (died 1975) and aunt (died 1982), babies who had died and those yet to be born, and her handicapped friend who appeared with a perfect body. Before returning, she saw the earth and stars as bluish-white lights, then saw herself dead in the same place she left. She returned rapidly through the tunnel and suddenly was back in her body. Her vision during the experience was perfect, able to see everything clearly in detail, unlike her severely impaired normal vision.
