The subject was hit by a car traveling approximately 50 mph on a foggy January night after snow had melted. Neither he nor the driver moved away in time. His right leg was shattered requiring a steel rod from ankle to knee, left foot broken needing months in a cast. He went through the windshield head-first, landed in the passenger seat with his head tilted backward touching his spine, then was ejected back onto the roadside. It took 45 minutes for the ambulance to find him with blood pressure at 0/50.
During the experience, he found himself in a western/cowboy setting on a dusty dirt road with cowboys in dusters and bandanas. They rode into a western town where townsfolk shot back at them. He was hit between the shoulders, fell unable to move, and was placed in a buckboard wagon. Asked whether to stay and see the doctor or go with them, he chose to stay.
