He perceived the medical team working on his body, which appeared rigid and cooling as if losing essential warmth. He described this as more of an awareness than visual perception, possibly a synesthesia blending all sensory inputs into a mental image. He was immediately blind from the accident and had no physical vision during the emergency room experience. The perception was less realistic than dream-like, with no vividness or sense of detail.
