Sandy rounded a corner on a rural road and hit a gathering of deer. Her car skidded, rolled, and landed upside down in a ditch. She was thrown from the car through the driver's door into dense shrubs. Despite severe injuries including broken ribs, punctured lung, ruptured spleen, and torn liver causing massive internal blood loss, she remained conscious at the scene. Remarkably, she maintained consciousness despite her critical condition. During this time, Sandy experienced a profound visitation from her mother who had died several years earlier. Her mother appeared as clear and real as the responding police officer. Sandy felt her mother take her hand, felt the warmth, and saw her brush tears from Sandy's face. The officer confirmed Sandy was talking to someone who wasn't there but appeared to be having a real interaction. Her mother stayed present but silent, stepping back as emergency crews worked, and waved goodbye as the ambulance doors closed. Sandy underwent multiple surgeries for her injuries. The experience brought comfort to her family, especially her son who initially rejected the account but later accepted it might have happened.
