Loretta contracted severe scarlet fever and was kept at home on the living room davenport where family could monitor her constantly. After being extremely ill for an extended period, she felt her physical strength draining away and had the distinct feeling of dying. She experienced entering a completely black tunnel, then saw a light and flowed toward it without fear. She felt she had no body but was a complete being. From above the ceiling, she could see through walls and observed her mother in the dining room with her sister. Her sister walked to the davenport, looked at Loretta closely, noting her translucent ivory skin with a green tinge. The sister then retrieved a camera from the buffet and took a picture while Loretta watched from her out-of-body position. During the experience, Loretta felt God surround and embrace her with light and love permeating completely through her, experiencing infinite contentment and peace. This eliminated all fear of death. A thought came that she had to return to her body and finish her life. Within two days, the scarlet fever was gone, surprising the doctor with the rapid recovery. The mother confirmed Loretta had been near death, and the photograph verified what Loretta had observed while out of body.
