Andy S underwent a six-hour cardiac ablation procedure on July 25, 2000, to correct severe abnormal heart rhythms (SVT - Supraventricular Tachycardia). During the procedure, surgeons routinely shock, stop, and restart the heart while burning abnormal muscle pathways. Due to the nature of the procedure, only mild sedation was used rather than general anesthesia, causing Andy to drift in and out of consciousness multiple times. The medical team stressed his heart to 250 beats per minute using heated blankets and adrenaline shots, then burned thirty-two quarter-sized areas of his heart.
Near the end of the operation, after hearing staff discuss giving medication to slow his racing heart, Andy's heart suddenly stopped. He experienced total darkness and felt intense loneliness, isolation, and cold. Time became irrelevant in this dark void. Then he felt warmth and a Light that grew increasingly bright and intense, filling his entire being. The Light was "crisp white" like "a thousand suns exploding" and communicated with him non-verbally - he understood the Light itself, not words, feeling it run through him. The Light became one with him and conveyed a specific vision and purpose. After being resuscitated with large shock pads attached to his back, Andy awoke with a profound sense of mission. The Light had "infused" him with a vision of what to communicate to others. He spent the following year writing a book called "The Ithon" based on what the Light revealed. He describes being given a gift of writing he never had before, with complete clarity about what to write. However, distance from the experience brings fear about the magnitude of what the Light has given him to do in the world.
