Jason experienced a profound near-death episode at age eleven when struck by a car while riding his new birthday bicycle. Immediately upon impact, he found himself floating approximately five feet above his injured body, observing his broken and bleeding leg with eyes closed below. From this elevated perspective, he witnessed concerned bystanders gathering, including a man who attempted assistance, and the arrival of emergency medical personnel. Despite his attempts to reassure everyone that he was fine, no one could hear his communications. He observed medical staff expressing doubt about his survival while loading his body into the ambulance.
Following the ambulance from above during transport, Jason experienced a sinking sensation accompanied by a whooshing sound before entering a tunnel with bright light at its terminus. The tunnel appeared to spiral upward like a whirlpool toward the light. Two beings accompanied him throughout the tunnel journey, providing reassurance and guidance. Upon emerging into the light, he encountered numerous loving presences, though none were personally familiar. After explaining his accident to these beings, they informed him that his time had not arrived and he must return to his family. The light itself was perceived as God, and the entire realm radiated happiness and love. The return journey occurred through the same tunnel, culminating in the hospital where Jason observed two doctors working on his blue-appearing body. One doctor called his name repeatedly before applying defibrillation paddles that caused his body to bounce upward. This shocked him back into physical consciousness. When he later described accurately witnessing the paddle application to his doctor, and shared the experience with his mother and teacher, his account was met with amazement regarding the precise medical details he could not have otherwise known.
