Nancy had severe lupus that caused bleeding into her lungs, resulting in oxygen deprivation so damaging she developed brain injury. A scan showed no brain function. She was disconnected from the ventilator and should have died. This represents an extreme medical crisis with documented absence of brain function and removal of life support.
When disconnected from the respirator, Nancy suddenly found herself in a dimly lit room alone. The room had a door she knew was special. She became aware she was no longer alone—God was there too as an all-encompassing presence of complete, total, and unconditional love in its highest form. Though she didn't see a figure, she had no doubt this was God. He spoke with compassion asking, "Are you too tired?" She understood He was asking if she was too tired to go through that door, which would mean her death. Nancy was given a choice whether to go back. She doesn't remember her answer but knows it must have been her choice to return. Miraculously, God sent her back well—after years of suffering with lupus pain, when she returned, her lupus was completely gone. Since her NDE, all tests for lupus have been negative. She describes this as a miracle, stating physicians are reluctant to use that term. The most meaningful aspect was receiving sure knowledge that God is real and loves her unconditionally. She was surrounded by God's unconditional love, far greater than human love. This case represents both a profound spiritual encounter and a medically inexplicable healing.
