Jean experienced toxic shock syndrome so severe that her heart stopped beating on four separate occasions. During her NDE, Jean's life review focused entirely on her relationships with others. She felt what they felt in their relationship with her - their love, their pain and hurt from things she had done or said. Their hurt made her cringe, and she thought "Oh, I could have done better there." But mostly she felt love. No one was judging her; she felt no disapproval, only her own reactions to it all. The feeling of unconditional love continued to saturate her throughout, and she realized she was judging herself - no one else was judging her. Jean received profound teachings about the nature of earthly existence. She was told that earth is like a big school, a place where souls can apply spiritual lessons they have learned and test themselves to see whether they can "live" what they already know they should do. Earth is essentially a place to walk the walk and live the way it should be done. She learned that some people come to earth to work on one or more aspects of themselves, while others come to also help the world as a whole. The other side doesn't have the pressures that the body imposes - the need for food, clothing, and shelter. Earth provides continual pressure to make decisions with a spiritual base. People may be taught on the other side what they're supposed to do, but earth tests whether they can live it under pressure. Jean understood that everything is about relationships and taking care of each other. Humans aren't expected to be perfect but are expected to learn. All experiences follow patterns, teaching the same lessons in different ways and circumstances, revealing what each person is here to learn and test.
