Bruce was out for a night of fun with a friend, attending multiple parties where beer, marijuana, and alcohol were flowing freely. He consumed five or six bottles of beer along with two to three shots of whiskey. Within five minutes, he experienced intense thirst, stood up to search for liquid, and suddenly felt intense chest pain. The last thing he remembered before leaving his body was falling backward onto the floor from what he knew was a heart attack.
After dying and leaving his body, Bruce traveled through a tunnel at sickening speed and found himself in an ornate, light-filled room with a throne high above. He desperately wanted to hide from God's presence but had nowhere to go. He watched a complete review of his entire life - all joys, difficulties, sorrows, moments of kindness and unkindness. God communicated telepathically that He was not pleased with Bruce's life of alcohol and drugs. Bruce was then shown a place of intense horror before being guided away by someone he knew to be Christ Jesus. Bruce was comforted and found himself surrounded by familiar people emanating unconditional love, feeling he was truly "home." He was told to return to complete a prepared task that would change others. He resisted but was urged by loved ones approaching him one by one. Realizing his resistance was causing them discomfort, he agreed to return. Just before entering the tunnel back, he realized with shock that everyone he had seen had previously died. The experience showed Bruce that all humans are worthy of love, that love is what survives beyond this life, and that God is much bigger than he had previously thought. He learned to focus on showing love in the present rather than dwelling on past problems.
