Kathy W. was in labor with her second child when a serious complication resulted in her near-death experience. Despite passing out, she could hear everything happening around her. She felt herself being pulled backward from somewhere near her navel as she left her body. She tried to shout that she was being taken, but her body did not respond to her conscious commands.
She found herself in a dark world experiencing pain and hearing a deafening noise like a hurricane. Through the pain, she had a moment of absolute clarity about her true essence - her consciousness without body. She knew she would gladly stay and bear anything if it meant the safety and life of her baby. At that moment of selfless love, she was pulled backward faster through a tunnel with walls like clouds. Loving voices coached her, asking about the purpose of her existence. She felt the most intense love she had never experienced before, which still makes her cry when discussing it. She became one with everything - all-seeing and all-knowing, understanding that God is Love and that love is an energy connecting every molecule in the universe. Kathy was offered choices about what would happen next. As her consciousness expanded, she realized that if she let it continue, she would not be able to return from death. She became aware of that point approaching and chose to stop it. Upon returning, she had immediate future knowledge, telling the doctor not to operate but to deliver the baby using forceps. She also knew she was having a boy. The doctor agreed to try forceps and successfully delivered a baby boy exactly as she had predicted. This experience gave new meaning to "God is Love" for Kathy, showing her that love is the fundamental energy of the universe.
