William from County Cork experienced a near-death event after falling from a very high roof. His fall was cushioned, which likely saved his life as he would almost certainly have died otherwise. After the fall, he was convinced he was dying and experienced classic near-death phenomena including seeing a blinding light at the end of a tunnel that went on and off.
During this experience, William saw a woman standing approximately ten feet away on his right-hand side, standing in the corner of the room on the wood floor. She appeared slim, dressed in a grey coat with grey hair. Her outline was real and she looked like an actual person. William believed this was his wife who had previously died from breast cancer that had spread to her lymph glands throughout her body. The figure looked exactly as his wife did at the time of her death, with the same face, hands, and wearing the same grey coat she always wore. The figure appeared worried and concerned but never moved, remaining completely motionless on his right side. She maintained eye contact, staring at him without moving her head, eyes, arms, or any other part of her body. No words were exchanged between them. William found it odd in retrospect that he said nothing to her. The figure remained present until his coworkers arrived and got him to the hospital, at which point she disappeared. William contrasted this experience with an earlier car crash where no such apparition appeared, noting his wife was still alive during that first accident. He believes his deceased wife came to protect and care for him during the roof fall, helping him survive. He is convinced that when he eventually dies, his wife will come to him again and they will be reunited, along with other relatives who will help guide him to the other side.
