Jackie from County Dublin underwent a Caesarean section in 1990 to deliver her son Séamus. Natural delivery would have been too dangerous for both mother and child according to the surgeon. While the baby was delivered healthy at seven pounds two ounces, Jackie experienced severe complications. A couple of days after surgery, while still hospitalized and feeling very sore and tired, her heart stopped and resuscitation was required.
During the cardiac arrest, Jackie found herself floating out of her body and entering a wide tunnel similar to those cars pass through. The tunnel was composed entirely of brilliant white light, brighter than the brightest paint. She floated at medium speed through this light-filled tunnel for what felt like 10-15 minutes. At the tunnel's end, she emerged into a beautiful garden with vibrant green grass, three angels playing harps and singing gorgeous music on the left, and a grey stone medieval-style mansion with a brown door on the right. The sky was blue with sunshine. Her grandparents, who had both died in the 1970s from cancer (grandfather from throat cancer, grandmother from lung cancer), emerged from the house to meet her at the tunnel's edge. They appeared floating, wearing white robes, looking the same age as when they died but healthy and happy without sickness or worry. They embraced her and expressed their delight about her son's birth, explaining they would have driven to see the baby but had died in the 1970s. They told her to care for herself and her son, saying it wasn't her time and she should return. They emphasized this was their only chance to meet her until her eventual death, which was far away. After the embrace and farewell, Jackie floated back through the tunnel and returned to her body. She awoke unable to move, strapped to a cardiac machine with wires across her mouth as medical staff worked to resuscitate her. The experience eliminated her fear of death, knowing her grandparents and parents will be waiting in that gorgeous place when her time comes.
