Dale Black, a 19-year-old pilot trainee, was the sole survivor of a plane crash on July 18, 1969, when their Piper Navajo struck a 120-foot building at 135 mph. Both other pilots died instantly. Dale experienced an extensive out-of-body experience, observing the crash site, his body being transported by ambulance, and emergency room efforts to save him. He remained conscious throughout, watching from about five feet above his body. During this time, he recalled giving his life to Christ at age 12 at a church camp, realizing he had become self-centered since then. He observed himself moving backward through the hospital into a profound spiritual experience. Approaching heaven's wall, he was met by a welcoming committee who loved him unconditionally despite not being blood relatives - they were his spiritual family bonded by Christ's blood. Dale learned there is no racism or gender distinction in heaven, only unconditional love and complete absence of sin. After four days in a coma, he awoke completely transformed with new spiritual eyes, wanting only to tell everyone about God. Despite severe injuries including 20/200 vision in his right eye (retina and pupil severed), unusable left arm, and other damage, Dale exercised faith and physical therapy to eventually achieve 20/20 vision and become an airline pilot for 50 years. His transformation from self-centered youth to devoted minister demonstrates authentic spiritual renewal.
