Mike Olsen, a Louisville pastor with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, underwent a double lung transplant on January 7, 2019. During surgery, when the final clamp was removed, he bled out and flatlined. During his clinical death, Mike rose from the operating table and heard negative voices taunting him until he commanded them to stop in Jesus' name. He then saw rainbow lights that were singing "Mike's coming home" which he recognized as angels. Upon entering heaven's bright light, Mike felt total bliss and realized all his earthly worries were insignificant compared to Jesus' all-encompassing presence. Remarkably, when Mike cried out wanting to thank his organ donor, Jesus appeared with the donor beside Him, placing His hand on Mike's shoulder saying "These are your new lungs." Mike had to agree to receive them before returning to his body. He remained in a coma for 10 days. Significantly, his wife Patty independently knew Mike was in heaven thanking his donor, and their friend Jonathan heard God's audible voice saying "Mike is with Me" then later "He's back." When Mike awoke, his first words confirmed he had thanked his donor in heaven. The experience eliminated Mike's fear of death and transformed his ministry to focus on God's overwhelming love and mercy.
