W.A. Laufmann, a traveling salesman staying in Omaha, was apparently dead for almost two days. He described experiencing something like a fleecy ball releasing itself from his physical form. Once exteriorized, the fleecy ball expanded into the shape of a man approximately three feet taller than his physical body. He stood in the middle of the room and distinctly saw his dead body lying upon the bed.
From his out-of-body state, Laufmann left the room and met one of the physicians in the hallway. The doctor said nothing to him despite Laufmann's presence. Finding he couldn't stop him, Laufmann walked out into the street where he encountered an acquaintance, Mr. Milton Blose. He attempted to greet Blose by hitting him on the back, but his arm went through him. Unable to attract Blose's attention despite his efforts, Laufmann observed that Blose crossed the street and looked into a shop window where a miniature Ferris wheel was on display. Returning to the hospital, Laufmann went through the door to the room where his physical body lay. He witnessed doctors standing over his corpse discussing the case. One doctor attempted an experiment applying electric current to his feet. Although Laufmann was standing outside his physical body in the center of the room, he felt the electric current with intense agony and knew momentarily that he was back in his body again. Laufmann later obtained a testimonial letter from Mr. Blose verifying that he had actually been in Omaha at the time. Blose confirmed he had walked down the street and stopped to look at a Ferris wheel in a shop window, exactly as Laufmann had observed from his out-of-body state.
