Ron Reagan was in his early 20s, married with children, involved in drugs and criminal activity when he had a near-death experience in 1972. He had been severely injured in a fight and was in an ambulance when his vision of hell began. His wife was present with him during the experience.
As he lay injured in the ambulance, it appeared to him as if the vehicle exploded in flames. He immediately began moving through smoke as if through a tunnel. After some time, emerging from the smoke and darkness, he began hearing the voices of a multitude of people screaming, moaning, and crying. Looking down, he had the sensation of viewing a volcanic opening with fire, smoke, and people inside this burning place. The people were screaming and crying, burning but not being consumed, with their flesh melting and falling from their bodies. He felt himself moving downward into this inferno. The most terrible part was that he began recognizing many of the people in the flames, as if a camera lens was bringing their faces close to him. He could see their features and their agony clearly. Multiple people called his name saying "Ronnie, don't come to this place. There's no way out. There's no escape." He specifically recognized one who had died in a robbery attempt, two others who had died drunk in a car accident, and others who had died from drug overdoses. The smell was like sulfur and electric welding with a terrible stench. When he opened his eyes, he was in a hospital room in Knoxville, Tennessee with almost 100 stitches in his body. He could still hear the screams, smell the terrible odor, and feel the heat. The experience haunted him for months until his wife accepted Christ and he followed two weeks later on November 2, 1972.
