Seven-year-old Kristle Merzlock drowned at a YMCA pool party in Pocatello, Idaho on March 13, 1982. During her cardiac arrest, Kristle found herself in complete darkness hearing eerie sounds before entering a tunnel made of transparent bricks with multicolored lights shining through. The floor was uneven and she had to crawl until a tall blonde woman named Elizabeth appeared, introducing herself as Kristle's guardian angel. Elizabeth led her to green meadows with vibrant flowers, a waterfall, and trees with white fruit. Family members gathered including her deceased Aunt Pat, grandfather Paul, and a grandmother she had never met. Two girls her age, Heather and Melissa, said they would soon be born on Earth. Jesus held her on his lap and asked if she wished to stay. Though she wanted to remain, she realized she needed to return for her mother. While unconscious, Kristle observed Dr. Morse from above as he worked on her, seeing him use a beard and specific medical procedures. She accurately described her nasal intubation, which was less common than throat intubation. She also traveled home in spirit form, observing her brother playing with a GI Joe in a jeep, her sister combing a Barbie doll while singing to rock music, her mother preparing roast chicken and rice, and her father sitting worried on the couch. After three days in a coma, Kristle awoke asking "Where are Heather and Melissa?" She made a remarkable recovery with no brain damage despite only 1 in 300 similar cases fully recovering. Dr. Morse verified her observations of his appearance and procedures, confirming she accurately described events while profoundly comatose.
