Daniel Ekechukwu, a Nigerian pastor, died in a car accident on November 30, 2001, and was dead for approximately 42 hours. He had argued with his wife Nneka, who slapped him, and he remained angry, resisting reconciliation. During the accident when brakes failed, he was seriously injured and died after reaching the clinic. Two angels appeared in the ambulance before his death.
An angel took him to Paradise where he saw multitudes of saints dressed in white, singing praises to God. He saw the mansion Jesus prepared and even flowers singing praises. He was then taken to hell where he saw all races in torment, shouting in pain though he saw no fire. A pastor in hell shouted "I only stole church money, and I'm ready to refund immediately," begging for another chance. Most significantly, the angel told Daniel that if his record were called, he would be thrown into hell despite being a pastor. The angel showed him Matthew 5:21-22 about calling one's brother a fool, and reminded him that his angry words to his wife and refusal to forgive meant his prayers while dying were ineffective. The angel explained that only the merciful obtain mercy. Daniel's body was taken to a church basement during Reinhard Bonnke's service. His wife believed for resurrection. After being dead for 42 hours, partially embalmed, his body began twitching during prayer and he came back to life. He became more afraid of missing heaven and made great effort to avoid disagreements with his wife.
