Don Piper was nearly crushed to death when a semi-truck plowed head-on into his car. His soul was immediately ejected from his body and he found himself standing in heaven. He became aware of a large crowd of people standing in front of a brilliant, ornate gate. They surged toward him - all people who had died during his lifetime, smiling, shouting, and praising God. He recognized many including his great-grandmother Hattie Mann who appeared transformed - standing strong and upright without her earthly osteoporosis, with sparkling natural teeth instead of dentures, wrinkles erased, appearing ageless. The brilliance beyond the gate was brighter than the surrounding light, intensifying as he walked forward. He heard the swooshing of angels' wings magnified thousands of times, and music comprised of hundreds of songs sung simultaneously, all worshiping God. He could clearly distinguish each hymn of praise. Drawing nearer to the gates of heaven, he was awed by the intensity of light and felt he was being ushered into the presence of God. He experienced being truly home before being sent back to his body after 90 minutes of clinical death.
