Seventeen-year-old Valerie experienced an NDE during surgery when her breathing tube became clogged. She recalled being anesthetized and then finding herself going through a dark tunnel. Her hands appeared translucent to her vision. An angel appeared and comforted her, telling her she was safe. When Valerie expressed that she was not ready to die, the angel acknowledged this and pointed downward. From her vantage point above, Valerie could see doctors performing CPR on a young girl lying below. Not initially realizing it was her own body, she watched the entire operation including all resuscitation efforts. She expressed sadness at seeing such a young person in distress. The angel then indicated that the medical team was bringing the girl back to life. At that moment, Valerie felt herself being pushed and thrown back into her painful physical body. The experience provided her with detailed observations of her own resuscitation that she could not have witnessed from her physical position.
