Patient underwent cardiac surgery on Christmas Day performed by Dr. Lloyd Rudy in Great Falls, USA. An oral infection had spread to a heart valve requiring surgical intervention. During the procedure, the surgery appeared to fail and life support machines were turned off. Staff began leaving the operating theater and the patient's chest was sewn up in preparation for autopsy. Suddenly vital signs began returning spontaneously without CPR. The patient staged a full recovery, remaining unconscious during surgery and in a coma for two days afterward. Upon awakening, the patient reported an out-of-body experience during which he observed the surgical procedure. Most notably, he saw post-it notes on a monitor that had been placed there by a nurse during surgery with messages for Dr. Rudy. These notes were placed after surgery began and removed immediately after it finished. The patient could not have seen these notes through natural means as he was unconscious before the operation began. Dr. Rudy confirmed there was no way the patient could have naturally observed these details.
