Rene Hope Turner, raised Jewish with all holidays observed, holds a doctorate in biblical literature history and a bachelor's in mechanical optical engineering. She moved to Australia where she purchased forest property and built a house from the timber. Her life changed dramatically when a tragic car accident put her in a coma. Her doctor told her parents she was dead, with the neurosurgeon insisting she had passed away. However, an excited nurse reported that Turner had suddenly sat up in bed and was talking.
During her coma, Turner experienced a profound near-death encounter. She met her deceased grandfather who looked younger than she remembered. He appeared without his hare lip or cleft palate, but she knew undoubtedly it was her grandfather. They embraced during the experience. Most significantly, her grandfather told her that her grandmother was coming soon and that he was looking forward to her arrival. When Turner returned to consciousness and began recalling her memories from the coma, she shared this information with her family. Her mother was initially upset upon hearing about the grandfather's message regarding the grandmother. However, the significance of this premonition became clear three months later when her grandmother was diagnosed with an untreatable illness. The grandmother passed away not long after the diagnosis. This experience brought three generations together through the veil between life and death. The deceased grandfather came to his granddaughter not only to offer reassurance but specifically to prepare the family for the grandmother's upcoming death. The advance knowledge, while initially disturbing, ultimately helped soften the grief when the prediction came to pass. The experience demonstrated the continuing bonds of love and care that persist beyond physical death.
