U.S. competitive cyclist Tom Sawyer had an NDE on May 23, 1978, when a pickup truck he was working on fell on him, crushing his chest. He was clinically dead for 15 minutes. Following his NDE, he developed enhanced psychic abilities. In October 1983, at Kenneth Ring's home, Sawyer made a remarkable prediction about a Lockheed L-1011 Tri-Star crash that would occur. He provided specific details: the plane would crash in a thunderstorm due to wind shear approaching an airport, temperature would be 103°F in southern U.S., and he knew details about passengers. On August 2, 1985, he called Bruce Greyson saying the crash would happen that day. Hours later, Delta Flight 191 crashed at Dallas-Fort Worth Airport in exactly the conditions predicted: 103°F temperature, thunderstorm with microburst wind shear. Greyson confirmed Sawyer had no psychic abilities before his NDE. Sawyer also demonstrated ability to find lost objects through clairvoyance and located a lost child.
