Madame Turban's younger sister suffered from an incurable disease and was being cared for by Madame Turban. The ill sister claimed to see people walking down the street despite this being impossible from her bed's location. One Sunday afternoon, the sister expressed deep regret at being unable to attend the sermon of her fiancé, a clergyman. Immediately after, she entered a cataleptic stiffness and appeared dead for two hours. Upon awakening, she told Madame Turban she had attended her fiancé's sermon and described its specific subject matter. After the sister's funeral, Madame Turban asked the fiancé if he had preached on that specific topic that Sunday. Surprised, he exclaimed "How could you know?" When told it was from his deceased fiancée, he revealed something remarkable: "That is very strange, because during my sermon, it seems as if I saw a white shape enter the church that resembled my fiancée. She sat down on an empty seat and disappeared when the church service was over." Both the dying woman's claim of attending the sermon and describing its content, and the preacher's independent observation of her apparition in church, provide mutual corroboration. The apparition appeared as a white shape, was visible for the sermon's duration, and disappeared when the service ended.
