On August 27, 1990, 10-year-old Jed Archdeacon had a fatal asthma attack during a dodgeball game at his Perth school. Teachers failed to revive him and rushed him to the hospital where he was eventually resuscitated after being clinically dead. That morning, his mother Diana experienced unusual phenomena. She was overcome by intense feelings of love for Jed and felt drawn to a family photo, especially his image. While gardening, she felt compelled to smell alyssum flowers that Jed had selected and helped plant - his favorite flowers. At that moment, she experienced an inexplicable feeling of peace, later saying "I was just suddenly thinking of Jed all the time. But I knew whatever it was, was something good." During his NDE, Jed traveled through a tunnel resembling a mineshaft with colored lights and beautiful humming sounds. He felt surrounded by love and was approaching the spiritual world when he was pulled back. After recovering, Jed told his mother: "The funny thing was—I don't get it—I saw you in the garden smelling the flowers." Diana confirmed she was indeed in the garden smelling flowers at the time he was near death. She believed Jed had come to say goodbye. The correlation between Jed's observation during his NDE and his mother's actual activity, which he couldn't have known about, provides veridical evidence.
