A patient of Spanish physician Miguel Ángel Pertierra in Málaga was estranged from his brother when the brother died. Later, the patient contracted a neck tumor diagnosed as lethal. He wanted to stay alive at all costs and refused to accept his terminal diagnosis. He was in a terminal phase receiving only palliative treatment to improve quality of life, with recovery considered completely impossible.
Nevertheless, he suffered cardiac arrest and had an NDE. During the experience, he saw his estranged deceased brother who told him not to worry because, against all odds, he would not die of his incurable tumor. The brother's message provided reassurance about his survival despite the terminal diagnosis. The patient shared his NDE with Dr. Pertierra, who responded skeptically with "Well, let's hope so," as recovery seemed unrealistic given the terminal status. To Pertierra's surprise, the lethal tumor suddenly began improving, treatment was resumed, and eventually it could be surgically removed entirely. Pertierra is certain the tumor was indeed lethal and the patient was terminal when recovery became impossible. At the conference time, the patient had fully recovered. Pertierra and the patient meet occasionally in Málaga and always hug, feeling especially connected through their shared emotional experience. This case demonstrates complete healing from a verified terminal tumor following NDE reassurance.
