Ruby Graupera-Cassimiro, age 40, underwent cesarean section at Boca Raton Regional Hospital. She developed amniotic fluid embolism, a rare complication causing a dangerous heart clot. She had cardiac arrest and lost consciousness. Resuscitation efforts lasted three hours with no pulse for 45 minutes. Doctors applied electrical shocks and heart massage. Family was called to say goodbye as doctors prepared to pronounce her dead.
When family left to pray fervently, doctors suddenly saw a heart monitor signal. Nurse Claire Hansen connected this to prayers and encouraged continuation. A day later, Ruby could be disconnected from life support. Remarkably, she suffered no brain damage or resuscitation injuries and was soon completely healthy, as was her newborn daughter Taily. Ruby described a dream/vision where she talked with a spiritual being she experienced as her deceased father, who said her time hadn't come. She recalled light behind her father and many other spiritual beings. She moved by "flowing" not walking. She said "It was peaceful. There is nothing to be afraid of." She felt held back by a force at a certain point and understood she wasn't going to stay: "It's not my time. I was chosen to be here." Doctors and nurses considered this one of few true medical miracles they witnessed, attributing recovery to divine intervention. The complete absence of brain damage after 45 minutes without pulse is medically inexplicable.
