In the 1970s, Ralph Duncan was dying from leukemia and had been told he had only a short time to live. He had already prepared himself for death when he was hospitalized. During his hospital admission, he experienced an NDE in which he encountered a being of light whom he took to be Jesus, even though the being did not look like traditional depictions. The being had eyes that were "shooting fire" and communicated with Duncan telepathically through three brief sentences: "That's enough. It's dead. It's gone."
After regaining consciousness, these words continued echoing in Duncan's ears. While he did not fully understand what "That's enough" meant, he associated "It's dead" with the disappearance of his leukemia. This interpretation proved correct as his terminal leukemia went into complete remission following the NDE. Professor Emeritus Howard Mickel of Wichita State University's religion department investigated this case thoroughly and stood staunchly behind its authenticity. The miraculous healing was verified through medical documentation showing the leukemia had indeed disappeared. When Kenneth Ring last had news of Duncan in 1989, he was still doing well, having survived well beyond his terminal prognosis. This case represents a clear instance of miraculous healing during an NDE, with the spiritual being explicitly stating that the disease was "dead" and "gone," followed by complete remission of terminal leukemia.
