A man at Fort Dix Army base experienced a severe cardiac crisis while his sister was simultaneously dying from diabetic coma in another part of the same hospital. Neither sibling knew about the other's critical condition. During his near-death state with heart problems, the man left his body and moved to the corner of the room, observing the medical team working on his physical form below.
While in this out-of-body state, he suddenly found himself in conversation with his sister, who appeared to be with him in the same elevated perspective. They were both observing the medical activity below and having what he described as a "great conversation" about the events unfolding. The siblings had always been very close, making this encounter particularly meaningful. As they conversed, his sister began to move away from him through what appeared to be a tunnel. The man attempted to follow his sister but she repeatedly told him to stay where he was, insisting "It's not your time. You can't go with me because it's not your time." She then receded into the distance through the tunnel while he remained behind. This separation marked the end of their encounter. Upon awakening, the man immediately told the doctors that his sister had died, though the doctor initially denied this was the case. At the man's insistence, the doctor had a nurse check on his sister's status. The verification revealed that she had indeed died at the time of his experience, exactly as he knew from their encounter. Dr. Raymond Moody personally contacted the attending physicians who confirmed the accuracy of the patient's account, including the timing of both medical crises and the sister's death.
