Viola Horton, known as Vi or Belle, experienced an extensive near-death experience in 1971 that included remarkable precognitive elements. During her NDE, she encountered spiritual guides who provided her with significant information about future events. Most notably, she was shown a picture of Raymond Moody, given his full name, and told that she would meet him when "the time was right" to tell him her story. This was particularly remarkable as Moody had not yet begun his groundbreaking work on NDEs, and his bestselling book Life After Life would not be published until 1975.
Following her NDE, Vi resided in a small southern city on a street one block long. Approximately eighteen months after her experience, Raymond Moody and his wife Louise moved to the same city and, remarkably, to the same street, though at the opposite end of the block. Despite this proximity, years passed without meaningful interaction between the families. The predicted meeting finally occurred on Halloween night of 1975, exactly four years after Vi's NDE. Louise Moody was preparing to take her son Avery trick-or-treating, with instructions from Raymond not to visit unfamiliar homes. Meanwhile, Vi was feeling unwell and had instructed her husband Bill not to call her to see trick-or-treaters. When young Raymond Avery Moody III knocked on their door, Bill couldn't resist calling Vi to see the child. When Vi asked the boy his name and he responded with his full name, she immediately recognized this as the moment shown to her during her NDE - the picture of his father appeared in her mind with the message "now!" She immediately turned to Louise and said she needed to speak with her husband. This meeting occurred just as Moody's Life After Life was being released, before his work had gained widespread recognition. The timing and specificity of this precognitive vision are particularly striking. Vi had no knowledge of Moody's scholarly work on NDEs at the time of her experience, yet she was shown his image and told of their future meeting four years in advance. The essential details of Vi's precognitive experience were independently confirmed by Louise Moody, providing external corroboration for this remarkable case of apparent precognition during an NDE.
