On December 30, 1993, Jan Price suffered a nearly fatal cardiac arrest after being bitten by a small dog. When the ambulance crew arrived and she was placed on a gurney, her heart stopped for approximately 4 minutes. During the resuscitation, Jan had an out-of-body experience where she floated above her body and observed the specific procedures the ambulance crew performed, including CPR and preparation of defibrillator paddles. She reported thinking "Oh my goodness, this is real. EMS is at my house. That's my body down there on that stretcher, and I'm not in it anymore." Remarkably, her husband John simultaneously saw her rise out of her body wearing a beautiful green flowing gown, providing a shared death experience element. Both Jan and John also saw their deceased dog Maggi, who had died three weeks earlier, appear before the gurney. Jan moved into another realm where she interacted with Maggi, who appeared younger and more vital, communicating telepathically about not leaving John alone. The paramedics Carl and Melody later confirmed Jan's veridical perceptions, with Carl stating she could describe "word for word what we said, everything that we did physically to her" in such detail it made him think about how she could possibly know this. Melody confirmed that Jan gave too much accurate information about procedures and positioning that she couldn't have known from her physical perspective. This case combines veridical OBE observations with shared death experience elements.
