Silvia suffered a cerebral hemorrhage from three ruptured aneurysms in early July 2002, resulting in a five-day coma with critical condition. She underwent emergency surgery at Bergen hospital after being transported by helicopter. During her coma, she experienced waking four times in brilliant, blinding light that was barely tolerable yet brought no pain or worries, only happiness. Her body didn't exist - only eyes and mind remained. The first three times she thought it was a nightmare and willed herself back to sleep.
