An overweight, middle-aged man with high blood pressure had repeatedly experienced heart attacks with cardiac arrest. He had been clinically dead more than once and had several NDEs. During one cardiac arrest, he had an OBE where he saw two nurses enter the room, one wearing a rose on her uniform. Two more nurses and one orderly entered, then his attending physician was called back in. The patient wondered why, as he felt fine. The doctor removed his coat to relieve the nurse compressing the patient's chest and the patient noticed the doctor was wearing a blue-striped tie. The room became dark, he felt he was rapidly moving through a dark hallway, then was brought back by a tremendous electrical shock. Rawlings verified that the patient's specific observations were accurate: the number of people present, their actions, the clothing details including the rose and blue-striped tie all corresponded with facts. Based on the sequence of actions, Rawlings concluded the patient must have been without heartbeat and unconscious during his entire NDE.
