Pam Reynolds underwent hypothermic cardiac arrest surgery for brain aneurysm removal. Body temperature lowered to 59-63°F, heart stopped, blood drained from head. Eyes taped shut, ears blocked with 95-100 decibel clicking speakers, under deep anesthesia with EEG burst suppression. During skull opening with surgical saw, she experienced OBE, hearing the saw as musical note (high D). Observed from above surgeon's shoulder: saw looked like electric toothbrush with groove, interchangeable bits in socket wrench case. Heard exchange about right groin arteries being too small, suggestion to try left side. Later saw body jump twice during defibrillation, heard "Hotel California" playing. Met deceased grandmother and uncle in light. All observations verified: Spetzler confirmed saw description accurate, conversation about arteries occurred, two shocks needed to restart heart. Greene confirmed she was physiologically dead with no brain activity. Observations impossible given sensory barriers and brain state.
