Stephanie Arnold, 41, suffered cardiac arrest from amniotic fluid embolism during cesarean delivery of her second child on May 30, 2013. She had experienced seven premonitions of her death beforehand, which led anesthesiologist Grace Lim to prepare extra blood and crash cart. Arnold left her body before surgery began, floating near the EKG monitor and down hallways to see her daughter with the nanny. She observed the entire surgery including seeing through the surgical drape. When removing the placenta, she flatlined for 37 seconds at 12:17pm. During cardiac arrest with no brain function, she witnessed and later accurately described: Nicole Higgins at foot of table instead of head, rushing to intubate; resident Hyo Park performing delivery instead of attending Julie Levitt; Levitt frozen saying "this can't be happening"; specific nurse hitting code button; Jessica performing CPR; two crash carts with first one failing; blood on Levitt's face; Jonathan pushing out of plane. During six-day coma, she met deceased relatives including her best friend's brother who she'd never met, providing verifiable details about his death. All observations were video-confirmed by multiple medical professionals who stated her knowledge was impossible given her condition.
