A large man arrived by ambulance in full cardiac arrest, likely from a lightning strike on the beach. The resuscitation was lengthy and difficult in a crowded emergency room. Hospice nurse Maggie Callanan, then a critical care nurse, performed chest compressions due to her height and long arms. After achieving a steady rhythm, the team left for dinner and Callanan monitored the patient. When he began to wake, she welcomed him back, but he punched her and angrily said she had no right to bring him back from "such a beautiful place." He accurately described watching her perform chest compressions. Later transferred to ICU, he survived the near-miss lightning strike. The next day, when Callanan visited, the patient apologized for hitting her and revealed remarkable knowledge: one of the doctors had lost his watch during the resuscitation and was upset about it. The patient said it was "under the leg of the emergency room table." When Callanan returned to the ER and asked if anyone had lost a watch during the resuscitation, one doctor confirmed he had lost his watch around that time. They moved the heavy ER table and found the watch exactly where the patient had indicated - under the table leg. This observation of a hidden object's location during cardiac arrest, requiring specific knowledge impossible to obtain through normal means, provides exceptional evidence for consciousness functioning beyond the physical body. The patient had been in a beautiful place and observed earthly events, including hidden details, during his resuscitation.
