Brazilian aviation engineer Nilton Davide crashed while testing his self-built hang glider at the Japi mountain range near São Paulo in 1976. During the crash, he experienced being taken out of his body by a giant hand, despite heavy injuries. He could perceive everything more clearly than with physical senses while floating in the air. Initially thinking he was dreaming, he realized the reality when going upward, hearing a voice telling him to ascend. He could see in all directions without turning his head, observing buildings in nearby Jundiaí, his car, and a nervous photographer who had come to document the flight. Most remarkably, Nilton observed his brothers Gilson and Osmar descending the mountain. His 13-14 year old brother Osmar was carrying a backpack with three cameras and films of previous flights. Nilton watched Osmar drop the backpack in the brush to rush down more quickly, noting its exact location relative to trees and bushes. After recovering from fractures, Nilton drew a detailed sketch showing a distinctive dead tree, his car's location, and precise distances. Initially, Osmar claimed he had left the backpack in the car and it was stolen. However, during a later interview, Osmar admitted he had indeed dropped it but forgotten due to the commotion. Using Nilton's sketch, which required a second, more detailed version after initial misinterpretation, they found the backpack at the exact location indicated. Osmar emphasized it could have been anywhere for miles around, making the precise location through Nilton's out-of-body observation particularly remarkable.
