A 17-year-old boy underwent surgery for his tonsils and nasal septum at Sanatorio Posadas in Argentina. During the operation, he suffered a severe hemorrhage with hypovolemic shock, requiring two units of blood transfusion in the operating room. His blood pressure dropped dangerously to 6/3 and he had low oxygen saturation, though he was not clinically dead. After surgery, in the therapy ward, the patient told Dr. Lolo Simes he had been "behind" the doctor during the critical moment, lifted up and observing the operation. He accurately described receiving exactly two units of blood, which he could not have known through normal means. The patient perfectly described the positioning of Dr. Simes, the anesthesiologist, and assistants in the operating room. He accurately reported what the medical team was saying during the crisis. When asked about typical NDE elements, he reported not seeing a white light but experiencing absolute peace unlike anything he had experienced before. Dr. Simes, an otorhinolaryngologist at Instituto Médico Simes, confirmed all the specific details and stated that as a medical doctor, he had no scientific explanation for how the patient could have known these facts. The observation of the exact number of blood units and specific positioning of medical staff while in hypovolemic shock provides strong evidence for consciousness functioning beyond normal physical limitations.
