A 60-year-old male recovering from emergency intestinal cancer surgery was improving after 5 days when physiotherapist encouraged him to sit in a chair. Within 5 minutes, his oxygen dropped from 96% to 70-86%, requiring immediate return to bed. He lapsed into deep unconsciousness with eyes shut, unresponsive to commands or painful stimulation. During this state, he experienced floating in a bright pink room, observing from above: the consultant checking his pupils with a light saying "they're reacting but unequal," nurse Penny cleaning his mouth with what looked like a "long pink lollipop" (actually a suction catheter then pink sponge), and the physiotherapist nervously "poking her head around the curtains" to check on him. These observations were verified: the consultant was new that day, the unusual cleaning method was confirmed by Sartori, and the physiotherapist's specific nervous behavior behind curtains was accurate despite his eyes being closed throughout.
